Itinerary
This 4-day trek explores the sacred Ausangate region and culminates with a sunrise visit to Rainbow Mountain. Each day is filled with surreal landscapes, peaceful Andean villages, and a true connection with nature.
Day 1: Cusco – Tinki – Upis
- 5:00 AM: Pick-up from hotel and transfer to Tinki (approx. 3 hours).
- Start the hike towards Upis (4,400 m) with views of Ausangate Mountain.
- Arrive at Upis campsite in the afternoon. Optional visit to hot springs.
- Dinner and overnight under the stars.
Day 2: Upis – Arapa Pass – Pucacocha
- Breakfast and early start towards Arapa Pass (4,850 m).
- Hike through colorful hills and glacier-carved valleys.
- Lunch en route and arrival at Pucacocha camp (4,300 m) beside a beautiful lake.
- Dinner and overnight in tents.
Day 3: Pucacocha – Warmisaya Pass – Surinecocha – Rainbow Mountain Base Camp
- Ascend to Warmisaya Pass (4,985 m) with dramatic views.
- Descend to Surinecocha and continue toward Rainbow Mountain Base Camp.
- Set up camp close to Vinicunca to prepare for early morning ascent.
- Dinner and final night camping in the Andes.
Day 4: Rainbow Mountain – Cusco
- 5:00 AM: Early hike to the viewpoint of Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca – 5,100 m).
- Enjoy spectacular sunrise light and fewer tourists.
- Descend to the trailhead in Chillca.
- After lunch: Return to Cusco by private transport. Arrival around 5:00 PM.
