Overview
This 3-day Choquequirao trek is a powerful journey for those with limited time but great energy. It’s a steep and rewarding hike through the Apurímac Canyon, leading to one of the last untouched Inca cities. You’ll witness spectacular landscapes, ancient ruins, and Andean wilderness in its purest form.
Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Capuliyoc – Playa Rosalina – Marampata
- Early morning pick-up from Cusco and drive to Capuliyoc (2,850 m).
- Start descending into the Apurímac Canyon with beautiful mountain views.
- Pass Playa Rosalina and climb up to Marampata (2,900 m).
- Camp overnight near Marampata with views of Choquequirao.
Day 2: Marampata – Choquequirao – Marampata
- After breakfast, trek to Choquequirao archaeological complex (approx. 1.5 hours).
- Guided tour of temples, terraces, and ritual areas.
- Explore the Llama Terraces and ceremonial zones.
- Return to Marampata for dinner and second night of camping.
Day 3: Marampata – Capuliyoc – Cusco
- Early breakfast and start the descent back to Playa Rosalina.
- Final ascent to Capuliyoc for lunch and rest.
- Return transport to Cusco, arriving by evening.
