Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Lares Hot Springs – Huacawasi
- 5:30 AM: Pick-up from hotel and drive to Lares town (approx. 3 hours).
- 9:00 AM: Relax at the Lares Hot Springs (3,200 m).
- 11:00 AM: Begin trek to Huacawasi (3,750 m), passing remote Andean villages and scenic valleys.
- Evening: Dinner and overnight camping near Huacawasi.
Day 2: Huacawasi – Ipsaycocha Lake – Patacancha
- 7:00 AM: After breakfast, start the most challenging day of the trek.
- Ascend to the Ipsaycocha Pass (4,450 m) with stunning views of snow-capped peaks and herds of alpacas.
- Descend to Ipsaycocha Lake and continue to Patacancha village (3,700 m).
- Camp and dinner near Patacancha.
Day 3: Patacancha – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
- 8:00 AM: Short walk and drive to Ollantaytambo.
- Free time to explore the town or relax before boarding the train.
- 1:00 PM: Train to Aguas Calientes.
- Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 4: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
- 5:30 AM: Early breakfast and bus up to Machu Picchu.
- 6:30 AM: Guided tour (approx. 2.5 hours) of the Inca citadel.
- Optional hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (not included).
- Return to Aguas Calientes, train to Ollantaytambo, and transfer to Cusco.
